Medak district is adorned by many temples depicting fine architectural splendors. These temples are scattered all around the district. Medak Fort
This wonderful fort is situated about 75 km from Hyderabad. It has with five sturdy cascading walls on a scenic hillock. The Kakatiyas are said to have built this fort. The two of the five massive walls surrounds this hill. At the entrance of each gateway, the bastions can be seen.Originally it was built in typical Hindu style during the reign of the Kakatiyas. The later additions and modifications carried out by the Qutub Shahis exhibit Muslim architecture.It
is essentially a dry masonry wall. The fort has wide ramparts with several
natural bastions carved out of the boulders and rocks on the hillock.

has three significant entrances - the Prathama dwaram (first entrance), Simha dwaram (Lion's entrance) & the Gaja dwaram (elephant's entrance).
Medak Church
Medak ChurchMedak Church is situated in the South Indian state Andhra Pradesh. This region is full of captivating sylvan beauty and is sanctified by the marvellous church. It is built of exclusive white granite in the grand Gothic architectural style.This spacious Medak church can contain up to 5000 people at a time. It also has a lot of exciting features. The spiral bell tower rises to a height of 175 ft.
The paintings in the church were prepared in 40 years at the London Studio by the British artist. These paintings depict the holy events from the Bible. The window in the north depicts the ascension of Lord Jesus to Heaven and it also forms a canopy to the Altar. Again, the windows on the east and west display various events right from the birth to the crucifixion of the Lord.
Kondapur
This place is situated about 90 km on the west of Hyderabad. Some antiquetreasures dating back to 3000 BC was unearthed from here by the archaeological excavations.
The villagers here revere Gandhi as a god and the village priest, Adivappa Swamy, performs pooja to the statue of the Father of the Nation every Friday without fail after he completes his duties at the nearby Shiva temple.
Popikondalu
In the `Bison Range` here, the wonderful waters of the magnificent river Godavari join the two districts, Medak and Godavari. This hill rises to a height of 2,280 meter above sea level at some places and thus forms gorgeous gorges in between. The vast plantations of teak and bamboo can be seen here.
How to Reach
Sangareddy, the administrative head quarter of Medak district is about 28 kms from Medak and 70 kms from Hyderabad. It is well connected by road. Nearest airport is Hyderabad airport, which is well connected with major domestic and international airports.
CLIMATE : The Climate of the District is characterised by a hot Summer and is generally dry except during the South west mansoon season. The year may be divided into four seasons. March to May is the Summer season, June to September constitutes the South West monsoon season, October to December form the North East monsoon season and January to February is the Winter season.
RAIN-FALL : The District has a normal Rainfall of 781.5 MM. the bulk of which is received through the South West Monsoon during the period from June to September. The Actual Rainfall received during the year 2003-2004 is 885.7 mm.
TEMPERATURE : The records at the Meteorological observatory station located in Hyderabad at Begumpet. It is representative of the meteorological conditions prevailing in the District. The mean maximum temperature begins to raise from the middle of February and reaches a maximum of about 300C in May. With the onset of the south-West monsoon into the District early in June, there is appreciable drop in temperatures and the weather becomes more pleasant. In the beginning of November, the decrease in both the day and night temperature is rapid. December is the coldest month with the mean daily maximum temperature at 28.60 C( 83.80F).
