Adilabad is a famous town situated in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Being the headquarters of Adilabad district, it gets a special attention from travel and tourism point of view. Introduction : Pranahita is a prime forest of dry deciduous type.The river Pranahita flows through the sanctuary feeding the forest with water. It is a hilly and undulating forest with patches of grassland and plateau. Situated on the banks of river Pranahita, a tributary of the Godavari, the prehistoric rock formation makes it a more intresting place to visit.
Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary
Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Adilabad District is spread across an area of 893 square kilometers and was established in the year 1964. The two landmarks of Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary are the watch towers in Donga pa My and Alinagar Village. These towers offer a breathtaking view of the sunrise and the sunsets.The Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary is abounds in teak forest, bamboo and other diverse species of flora. It was chiefly because of the bio diversity of the place that it was declared a sanctuary.
Pranahita Wildlife Sanctuary
Pranahita Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the district of Adilabad, in the scenic landscape of Deccan plateau. The sanctuary covers an area of around 136sq.kms and is covered with deciduous teak forests. The river Pranahita (a tributary of river Godavari) carves its way in to the sanctuary and makes the sanctuary more beautiful. The sanctuary is also a home to various fossils that are found here. In addition to his there are various other attractions that are listed below.
Flora- The sanctuary is very rich in natural vegetation and various types of plants & trees are found here that include pterocarpus marsupium, dalbergia paniculata, dalbergia latifolia, ficus spp, dalbergia sissoo etc.
Fauna- Pranahita Wildlife Sanctuary is a home to various types of species especially mammals that include tigers, leopards, rhesus, langur, hyenas, wild dogs, sloth bear, forest cat and many more.
Avifauna- The sanctuary also shelters a wide array of birds. The common that one can see around are strokes, teals, ducks, herons etc.
Kuntala Waterfall
These waterfalls are located 12 Kms from Neredikonda village which is 22 Kms from Adilabad. At Kuntala, river Kadam falls freely from a height of 45 metres and rushes into deep junglesKuntala, the highest waterfalls in the state, is a spectacular sight in full flow. The winter months are best to visit these falls when the river is in its full gloryThere is an idol of Lord Shiva near the waterfalls known as Someswara Swami. It can be reached through an opening in the rock. There is a large congregation of devotees on Mahashivarathri festival.

Air: The nearest airport is at Hyderabad, which is 280-kms away.
Rail: It has a railway station on the Mudkhed-Adilabad meter gauge line of the South Central Railway.
Road: Adilabad is situated on the Hyderabd-Nagpur National Highway and Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation runs regular buses from here connecting it with the other neighboring towns. It has a bus station where the atmosphere is bustling with activity, since many inter state buses originate here. Buses from major towns and small districts from Andhra Pradesh halt here. One can get buses from here to go towards towns in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra with whom Adilabad shares its borders.
