An Indian Revolution' is what the makers of Chevy SRV, described the occasion as, when they was launched the five-door hatchback in June 2006. Though 'Sportsback', in contrast to 'hatchback', is how GM prefers to call its pet by; quite understandably so because Chevy SRV comes with a sporty look and its design resembles GTR/GTX version of much larger cars. Built on an Optra platform, SRV shares similarities with the former in terms of overall height, width and wheelbase. An inch shorter than the aveo, Chevy SRV's ground clearance at 185mm is the higher than the aveo and the Optra. The Chevy SRV or Sports Recreation Vehicle is based on the Optra platform.It is making an entrance as a premium hatchback which will be difficult to digest for the common Indian consumer.

Chevrolet Optra SRV is powered by 1598cc, 16V DOHC, VGIS petrol engine that generates a power of 101 PS @ 5800 rpm and a maximum torque of 140 Nm @ 4500 rpm. The engine of SRV accelerates smoothly. The car is perfectly under control as the speed increases when driving on highways. Chevrolet SRV is also ideal for slow moving traffic.
Performance:
Look superb, no look back, although it is person specific. Especially I like the curve at the back. I suggest you to go for a rear wing spoiler specially fitted (extra accessory). The SRV without option pack does not have any spoiler but with option pack, it has one roof spoiler (fitted on the roof – rear). You insist for a rear wing spoiler (cost – 7000) as it keeps the rear curve intact in turn that keeps the car beautiful looking, and discard the rear roof spoiler. Actually this model is designed in Italdesign Giugiaro Design Studio that designed Ferrari like cars in the past,,, so beauty is assured,,, Its not a funky/flashy looking car instead it has a solid sporty and aristocratic look that will catch your attention gently.
In my opinion, Honda city (new models) is a funky/flashy looking car, there is no aristocracy in it.. SRV is superb in this department.Designed by the renowned Italian designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro, Chevy SRV is as handsome as it gets.The most winning aspect of Chevy SRV's exterior is unmistakably it rear side.There is a circular-themed tail lamp below which lies the extra-large rear bumper embellished with twin reflectors.
Design And Comfort:
The frontage of Chevrolet SRV wears the trademark Chevy "Bowtie" and a sleek front grille. Lying beside the long hood of the car are attractive almond-shaped headlamps, which capture instant attention. The rear portion of the automobile sports a trendy spoiler, horizontally aligned tail lamps cluster and a boxy trunk lid. A luxurious ride is ensured by Chevrolet SRV, with a seating capacity of five people.
Build & Styling:
Changes have been incorporated to the head and tail lamps though; the new front section looks neat with the big Chevrolet bow-tie which can be seen from a mile away. Very similar to all the Chevrolet cars in India, like the Chevrolet Aveo. The profile of the Chevrolet SRV is very european thanks to the Italian styling and some of the people here at carsinindia.com even compared it to the Citroen Xsara! Opinions apart, the car is very grown up and looks like a design job that took in a lot of time and effort on the part of the designers and stylists at Chevrolet India.
