The all-electric Indica Vista by Tata Motors has taken a large step forward with the naming of TM4 as its supplier of motors, controllers and power electronics. TM4 is a subsidiary of Hydro-Quebec and joins battery supplier Electrovaya as the second Canadian company involved with the project. Miljø Innovasjon, the Tata subsidiary charged with overseeing the demonstration program, will produce over 100 of the vehicles beginning this year.Leading car maker Tata Motors launched the new model of its successful brand Indica, 'Indica Vista'.Since Indica's launch more than a decade ago, the company has produced 9.1 lakh units. In financial year 2006-07, Indica achieved a sales of 1,44,690 units--highest in a year for the car.

The two diesel variants of Tata Indica Vista are 1.4L turbocharged inter-cooled TDI engine and 1.3L Quadrajet Common Rail diesel engine. With 71 bhp @ 4500 rpm of power, the TDI engine delivers a maximum torque of 135 Nm @ 2500 rpm. The Quadrajet engine delivers a higher torque, of 190 Nm @ 1750 rpm, and churns out a power of 75 bhp @ 4000 rpm. All the engines of Tata Indica Vista have five-speed manual transmission.
Ride And Handling:
The driver's seat of Tata Indica Vista is height-adjustable, while the steering wheel is tilt-adjustable, ensuring an effortless driving experience. Transverse stiffness is enhanced by a sub-frame construction. A better ride, comfortable drive and improved handling are facilitated by the new twist beam suspension and gas-filled shock absorbers. High strength steel panels have been used in the body of the car, to enhance the bending stiffness.
Build & Styling:
The new Tata Indica Vista is a complete makeover of the existing Tata Indica V2 and is larger in size and interior space. Its up-to-date styling and sharp appearance give a compact sporty feel. The Tata Indica was already quite spacious and now the new Vista has a wheelbase that is increased by 70 mm and length by 120 mm.
An integrated CD player and a two DIN CD System with a USB port and remote control enables music to be customised.
