Private companies are pressuring AAI to expand and develop the infrastructure of Satwari Airport so that more flights can operate from here to meet the increasing demands of growing passenger traffic.Airport Authority of India plans to make Jammu Airport an international airport and extend its runway to another 1300 ft. Longer runway will allow big aircrafts like the Airbus-320 and the Boeing 737-800 to land here. There are plans of allotting separate parking spaces for arriving and departing passengers. At present this airport can accommodate 250 passengers and AAI aims to double this capacity.
